사회현상을 날카롭게 직시하고 작품으로 표현했지만 그녀의 작품 대부분은 무척 온화하고 따뜻한 느낌을 준다… 우리 이웃들의 삶의 모습들이 실감나게 표현되어 있기 때문이다…”나는 민주의 아픔을 함께하는 민중미술을 하고 싶고 민중미술 작가가 되고 싶다.“라고 말한다. 그러나 그녀의 그림은 이미 실천적 행동의 결과이며, 시대와 민중의 아픔에 슬퍼하고 분노할 줄 하는, 그리고 현장에서 답을 찾는 진정한 민중미술 작가이다… 김화순은 늘 사람 곁에 있는 화가가 되고 싶어 한다. 그리고 사람들이 공감하는 그림, 사람들에게 힘을 줄 수 있는 그림을 그리고 싶어 한다. 그녀는 그런 그림이 민중미술이고 그래서 민중미술 작가는 사람들과 함께 해야 하고 현장성을 획득해야 한다고 강조한다.

Despite her keen eye for social phenomena and her ability to express them through her artwork, most of her pieces exude a remarkably gentle and warm feeling. This is because her art vividly portrays the lives of our neighbors. She says, "I want to create minjung art that shares in the pain of democracy and to become a minjung art artist." Yet, her paintings are already the results of practical actions and reflect the sorrow and anger towards the suffering of the times and the people. She is a true minjung art artist who seeks answers in the field.

Kim Hwa-soon always aspires to be an artist close to people. She wishes to create artwork that resonates with people and provides them with strength. She believes that such artwork is minjung art and that being a minjung art artist means working with people and acquiring a sense of presence in the field.
