SER Jin Sune
부산에서 태어났고 전라도 광주에서 살았습니다. 대학에서 그림 공부를 한 뒤 서울에 올라와 잡지사에서 근무했습니다. 의뢰받은 그림을 그려 오면서 늘 마음 한편에서는 내 목소리를 내고 싶은 마음이 꿈틀댔습니다. 1980년 고 3 어느 날 선생님이 상기된 얼굴로 수업이 채 끝나기도 전에 다들 집으로 가라고 했습니다. 그때 처음으로 죽음과 가족들의 슬픔을 목격했습니다. 시간이 흘러 이제야 이야기보따리 하나를 풀어놓습니다. 바로 내 옆에 살았던 동네 친구 이야기입니다. 친구 이야기는 곧 나의 이야기이기도 합니다.
I was born in Busan and lived in Gwangju, Jeolla Province. After studying art in college, I moved to Seoul and worked for a magazine. While I fulfilled commissioned artwork, there was always a part of me that longed to express my own voice. One day in 1980, during my senior year of high school, our teacher, with a flushed face, told us to go home before class had even ended. It was then that I first witnessed death and the grief of families. As time passed, I finally feel ready to share a story—a story about a childhood friend who lived right next to me. Their story is, in many ways, my own story as well.
