진 작가는 미술로서 세상을 바꾸겠다는 일념으로 전북민족미술인협회에 참여해 민중미술을 시작했다. 그는 역사와 미술의 관계에서 모색하는 작업을 통해 시대에 울림을 주는 예술적 발언을 이끌어내고자 한다. 작가에게 숙명적 방법론은 어두운 시대를 살아간 한 인물의 초상을 그리는 일이다. 안중근 의사, 유관순 열사, 홍범도 장군 등 선인들이 남기고 간 역사의 진실과 숭고한 의미가 퇴색되지 않기를 바라는 염원을 담아 그들의 얼굴을 캔버스 위에 옮겨냈다.(중략)

진 작가는 “사람은 얼굴에 생각을 담는다. 표정으로 말을 건다. 울거나 웃거나 무표정하거나 소리 없는 말로 자신의 의사를 표현한다. 어쩌면 인간은 말보다 소리 없는 표정으로 더 진한 감정을 나누며 살아가는지 모른다. 나는 이번 전시를 통해 침묵 속에 갇힌 기억을 깨고자 한다. 우리 모두가 기억 속에 잠든 역사를 깨워 대화하기를 바란다. 그리하여 이번 전시가 물감으로 쓴 새로운 역사서가 되기를 고대한다”라고 전했다.

"Driven by the conviction to change the world through art, Jin began his journey in Minjung art by participating in the Jeonbuk Association of National Art. He seeks to create resonant artistic statements by exploring the relationship between history and art. For Jin, his destined methodology involves painting the portraits of figures who lived through dark times. He has transferred the faces of historical figures such as Ahn Jung-geun, Yu Gwan-sun, and General Hong Beom-do onto canvas, embedding his hope that the truth and the profound significance of their contributions to history do not fade away.

Jin stated, 'People convey their thoughts through their faces. They communicate through expressions—whether they are crying, laughing, expressionless, or silently speaking. Perhaps humans share deeper emotions through silent expressions rather than words. With this exhibition, I aim to break the silence that has imprisoned memories. I hope we can all awaken the history that lies dormant in our memories and engage in dialogue with it. I earnestly hope that this exhibition becomes a new history book written with paint.'"
