이부안 작가의 본명은 이승현이지만, 이부안이라는 이름을 사용할 만큼 바다와 근접한 고향 부안은 그에게 삶을 지탱해주는 모든 것이자 이정표로 유년의 기억 같은 곳이다. 그의 관심사는 지구자전과 달의 인력에 의해서 생기는 밀물과 썰물, 파도를 대상으로 자연을 보는 자신의 감정과, 경험, 진실성을 어떻게 화면에 그림으로 구현할 수 있는냐가 전부였다.
The artist Lee Bu-an, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, chose the name "Bu-an" because the seaside town of Buan, where he grew up, is a place deeply rooted in his life—a guiding force and a repository of childhood memories. His primary focus is on depicting his emotions, experiences, and sincerity in relation to nature, particularly the ebb and flow of tides and the waves caused by the Earth's rotation and the moon's gravitational pull. His artistic pursuit revolves around how to express these natural phenomena on canvas.
